Glenn Saunders, Professional Vocalist & Bassist....

Hey, how you doing?  I'm Glenn, and I've been singing Lead Vocals and playing Bass Guitar for more than 20 years.  I have played Professionally since I was 17, and have gigged all over the GTA.  Some places I've played that you may recall are:  The Gas Works (miss that place!), Hot Rocks, Cheers, Burgundy's, Larry's Hideaway, Nagshead North, Tony's East/West, The Turning Point, Horseshoe Tavern, Hotel Isabella, El Mocombo, Rock N' Roll Heaven, Entex, and more than I can remember at the moment.

My first band was THE HATE, a hard core punk band along the lines of the SEX PISTOLS and FEAR (from L.A.), with a unique sound.  After that I played with BLACK ORCHID, a Black Sabbath Tribute, and then AUTUM LAKE, a Tribute to Zepplin.  From there I started DETOUR, a rock n' roll band playing both covers and originals.  I then spent some time jamming in a 3-piece band with my buddy, Guitarist Owen M., called MUIR, and following that I formed SANCTUARY, where I sang Iron Maidon, Queensryke, Judas Priest, Sabbath, Van Halen, Deep Purple (all the greats), and rehearsed at Cat's Eye Studios in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, next to Sebastian Bach who was playing with his old band HEIREMVOLK - we used to visit and listen to each other's bands, which was pretty cool - he's a really nice guy - ANVIL, also rehearsed at the same studio, and it was great getting to know them as well.

In the late 80's I joined hard rock band, JETTISON, with Lynne Campbell, Jeff M., Pino F., and Joe Leskovar of LEXICON ARTISTS (check them out on MySpace.Com), and entered Q107's Homegrown in 1989, where we placed 11th out of 1100 bands, and while we didn't make the album, it felt great to have radio play of our originals and to almost make the top 10 out of that many talented artists.  JETTISON, became the House Band for Burgundy's at Yonge and Bloor, recorded originals at Kensington Sound on Baldwin (at Spadina), in Downtown T.O., and played more gigs than I can count.  I had a blast.  Unfortunately, the band split after 4 years due to "artistic differences".  Lynne Campbell and I formed Captain Kidd, a Bon Jovi/Van Halen Tribute which was fun while it lasted.  And so, here were are with our new band DARK MATTER, with Lynne Campbell on Keyboards, Owen Leskovar on Drums, and with Me on Lead Vocals and Bass Guitar.  We will be recording a CD this year and gigging starting in May of 2007.  We'll keep you posted on our shows.

I have known both Owen and Lynne for 20+ years, and have played in many bands with Lynne over the years.  I am really excited about this new project, and am confident that it will have great musical chemistry.  We currently have a session guitarist sitting in, however, we are looking for a permanent Lead Guitarist - if you're interested, drop us an email.  This is a part-time band, as we all have day gigs, but we take it very seriously, and work hard when we do get together, and also on our own at our homes - it can be done!

Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to read this.  I wish you all the best in your endeavours and ask that you check out our tunes on MP3.COM under DARK MATTER - also, you can visit our Music Site on MySpace.Com by clicking on the button (it's blue), on the first page of this site, where our photo album is located.

Keep it real,

Glenn

The History or Story Behind My Site

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Lynne Campbell, our Keyboardist, and also a good vocalist (I should know, I'm her Vocal Coach!), for putting up this site for DARK MATTER and getting the ball rolling with our info. - thanks Lynne - she also built our MP3.COM Site and uploaded a few tunes that she did on her own from back in 2001/2002 when I first started coaching her in vocals.  We will be uploading originals from DARK MATTER to that site this year, and we'll keep you posted on that - we plan to complete our first album before the end of this summer (2007).  Again, Lynne built the MySpace.Com site for DARK MATTER, and got that going, and the rest of us appreciate her taking the time to do that - she is much better with computers than I am (she types a hell of a lot faster too LOL).

Anyway, Lynne, you have been and still are the best keyboardist I have ever worked with.  I think you write awsome songs and I look forward to you singing some Lead Vocals in the new band as well - I can't believe how much your voice has changed since you recorded the tunes up on the sites from your solo project - the vocals were good, but man, have you come a long way with all that practice - wait until you hear yourself when we re-record them now!

Owen, I've known you for a long time as well, and I am thrilled that we're finally going to have the chance to play in the same band - it's all timing, I swear - and having known your family for so many years, I can see that you have inherited so much musical talent.  You're an awsome drummer, and no matter what you say, I know you can sing, so get that mike stand beside your kit buddy!

Alright....before I get all misty here let's ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
